Business Spotlight : Savour

How did Savour get started?
When Avenue Eat & Drink went out of business in June of 2018, my wife expressed an interest in redecorating the space and opening a restaurant in spite of my current
responsibilities as Food & Beverage Partner at the DoubleTree Hotel next door. But as fate would have it, I was able to negotiate a great lease, and my partners had no problem with me managing both operations, knowing I was intending to sell out of my interest in the hotel and leave within a year.

How has Savour grown since it opened?
We’ve established a very high standard for food and service and my wife created an ambiance that’s very comfortable and classy that guests seem to really enjoy. We’ve won 2 Open Table Dining Award for 2018 and 2019, a Golden Spoon Award for Best New Restaurant in Florida, and our Executive Chef Brian Knepper was nominated as one of Florida’s Top 3 Chefs. We’re known for our hospitality and my wife or I (or both) are here every night to greet our guests and ensure they have a memorable dining experience.

What brings people into Savour?
We think it’s a combination of things: Great food, great service, a fair price, an eclectic-chic ambiance and a true concern for treating our guests as family.

What’s next for Savour?
Weather the Covid storm and get a sense of normalcy back for Tallahassee.

What’s the craziest thing that’s happened so far?
COVID for sure

How are you getting through these trying times?
Our faith in a Sovereign God. perseverance and good financial stewardship. We’ve always operated debt free, so we were fortunate not to be beholden to debtors or vendors during this period of time.
