Community Spotlight : Justin Westerman

What brought you to Tallahassee and kept you here?I originally moved here to become the store manager of H&M in the Governor’s Square Mall. I bought a house a year later and decided this is where I want to stay for awhile.
What have you noticed about the city’s growth since you’ve been here? The food scene is expanding much more than it used to be in the last four years. What’s next for you?Continue growing my practice and become a local expert in educating families with personal finance. What got you into financial planning?I needed to get out of retail, and I have always loved learning about personal finance. I took something I loved to do and made a career out of it. How has the financial planning industry evolved over the years? Shortly after entering the industry, the entire industry was changed with the new DOL changes. A lot has since been overturned, but recently, there’s been a big change requiring all firms to utilize additional paperwork confirming advisors are acting in the best interest of their clients; this is something I’ve done all along. What’s getting you through these trying times? My family, virtual networking, and copious amounts of food. What’s your capital city pedicabs connection?I met the current owner at a networking event at Proof Brewery as he was chowing down on cheese fries. We’ve been friends ever since.
