Everyone thinks it was for school, but I was offered a job at WTXL ABC 27 in April 2015 — and I’ve been here ever since.
What made you want to get into journalism?
I’ve always loved writing and telling stories. Seemed like a natural fit as I went through high school and college.
How has the industry evolved over the years?
Fewer hands on deck means more responsibilities for reporters. I’m a reporter, videographer, editor, writer, fill-in anchor and social media hound — all in one.
What has it been like being a part of WTXL?
Wonderful! The communities of north Florida and south Georgia have been welcoming, and my colleagues encourage me to work hard every day. It’s been a blessing to start my television career here.
What’s the craziest thing that has happened for/during a story?
I spent an entire night outside doing a special report on youth homelessness. It ended up getting me a state award for reporting, so it paid off!
What social media do you use?
Facebook and Twitter (professionally)
Instagram, Snapchat and Swarm (personally)
Describe being a reporter in 5 words or less.
Resiliently searching to inform citizens.
