Writing has taken on a few different forms in my life. But I knew at a young age that I liked entertainment and story telling. For the first 3 decades of my life it was mostly in visual entertainment… television, videos, that sort of thing. But even then, writing was my favorite part of it. It’s a chance to create something from nothing. I’ve always liked that.
What has been an inspiration for your writing?
What’s inspired me and my writing lately is finding out that what older, wiser people said is true– life goes by so fast. That, and not having another chance to go back and do things differently. If there’s something I want to do, now is the time. So whenever I have an idea or something I’m excited about, I try hard to keep at it so I won’t have any regrets. Plus I love kids, so writing children’s stories is something I’m very happy doing!
What do you want locals and visitors to know about writing that they may not already know?
Everyone has a story, so if you have the desire to share yours then the first step to take, and it might seem like the hardest step, is to start. Don’t think too much about how grand the end product will or won’t be, or how long it may or may not take. Just start. Even just a little bit every day and soon enough you’ll be a lot farther along than you imagined.
What’s next for you?
Next for me is to keep working on my second book. I’m pretty excited about it. I believe I’ll be self-publishing again, so the process of building the team is what I’ll be focusing on the next weeks and months. Of course, this first book of mine (“Big and Small, God Made Them All”) is still fresh and new, so I’ll be taking it around and sharing it as much as I can, as well!
What social media do you use?
I’m on Facebook, Twitter (@wilderness615) and Instagram (bendaviswilder). I also have a website… BenjaminWilder.com
