James (bass) and I (JB, guitar and vocals) had been trying to get something going for a few years. I’ve known Nick (keys) since we were 6, and had been trying hard to get him to jam with us. I finally talked him into giving it a shot and as soon as we did we knew we had something special. That was early in 2010.
What do you want visitors and locals to know about Brother Hawk that they may not already know?
The main thing we want to convey with Brother Hawk is that we love what we do. That’s the only reason we do it. When we’re on stage together there’s no place we’d rather be.
How has Brother Hawk evolved since getting started?
We’ve just evolved into an overall tighter unit. On stage, in the studio, in rehearsals, in the van. Still growing tighter by the day!
Where would you like to play that you haven’t yet?
We’d really like to get out west. We’ve got plans as far as Texas for the summer, but we want to play anywhere and everywhere people are willing to listen.
What’s the craziest thing to happen at a gig?
I can’t think of anything too crazy, we played a hole in the wall pizza place way back and our amps blew the power! haha
