Entertainment Spotlight meet Director Sean Michael Beyer

We are keeping the Entertainment Spotlights going with Director Sean Michael Beyer. Here’s what he had to say…

When did you know you wanted to be a Director?

I started acting at a very young age and moved into directing some theatre while in high school. When I moved to LA in 1989 to pursue acting, I hadn’t really even thought about directing. But after going to audition after audition with little result, I decided to write a short film for me to star in, to show that I could act. Well, as I got into the process I realized I couldn’t let someone else direct it, it had to be me. In fact, I only did a quick cameo in the short film and from there I knew I wanted to direct.
How did Eye Scream Films come about?

Eye Scream Films was formed in 2000 to produce horror films. Interesting enough, it took until 2014 to actually do that. We’ve done a wide variety of projects, including two feature films that I directed, music videos, numerous fitness videos, commercials, web series (Poor Paul among them), cooking shows, you name it.

What do you want visitors and locals to know about the film industry that they may not already know?
That most who work in the industry live at a lower-middle class level. Most aren’t millionaires and drive Mercedes to their Beverly Hills homes. We all sacrifice a great deal to accomplish our goals, often working for free or for very little money to build our resumes and reels.
What social media do you use (here’s your spot to promote)?

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Any crazy stories from the casting room?
I’ve been offered sex by both genders in exchange for a role. And no, I didn’t! haha.
Describe the the film industry in 5 words or less
An excruciating love-hate relationship.
