This month we are featuring The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.

Here’s what James Miller, Vice President, Communications & Marketing had to share with us about The Chamber.

How has the Chamber grown over the years? – For close to 100 years, the Chamber has been the voice of business in the Capital City. Over those years, the Chamber has expanded its role in the community to ensure our members get the support they need to be successful and to ensure the overall business community prospers, which improves the quality of life for everyone. The Chamber is always evaluating our community’s strengths and weaknesses and identifying opportunities to enhance different aspects. As such, it founded Leadership Tallahassee, the region’s premier leadership organization, in 1983, added the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County in in the mid-90s, and founded Access Tallahassee, the region’s largest and premier young professionals organization, in 2006. All of these organizations help to create a diverse and knowledgeable workforce and a pipeline of young and emerging leaders.
In your opinion what makes the Chamber stand out? – The incredible amount of support available to local businesses, as well as the different types available, is what makes the Chamber unique. No other organization can provide a business with the diverse and impactful advocacy, networking and professional development opportunities that the Chamber can. All of these help to grow business and foster collaboration throughout the community.
What do you want visitors and locals to know about the Chamber that they may not already know? – The Chamber does more than just support local businesses. It is the heartbeat of the community, is involved with all levels of government (local, state, federal), and is continuously working behind-the-scenes to support the overall business community. Support and membership in the Chamber not only means a competitive advantage for a business, but also allows the Chamber to continue bettering our community through the tools, resources and opportunities it provides. A robust and vibrant business community is key to the success of any region.

Describe the Chamber  in 5 words or less – Advocacy. Networking. Professional Development. Diversity.
